SF4 Championship free DLC is now live !!!


This is just in guys!

The promised free DLC expansion pack dubbed Championship mode just rolled in for both Xbox360 and ps3.

The patch is 19mb for the ps3. 

Check back later in the day for my first hands on impression of this free expansion.

EDIT: It seems that the xbox360 version of the patch has some problems. Many 360 users reported either a data corrupted msg after they download the patch or if it installs fine, they cant find nor create any match.

For the Data corrupted issue, users have reported that uninstalling the patch then clearing the xbox 360 cache will solve the problem. As for the connection issue to the matches there is still no fix available yet.

To clear your xbox 360 cache do the following (courtesy of eventhubs):

Go to the Xbox Dashboard > My XBox > System > Settings > Memory.
Highlight where you have your saved data stored (the Hard Drive) and press Y.
Press X, X, Left Bumper, Right Bumper, X, X.
You will see a confirmation message to confirm system maintenance, this clears your cache.

The ps3 version of the patch seems to be working fine.

EDIT2: Things seems to be working for the xbox360 as well right now.

    Is it just me or is my update not working...I downloadeditm, it updated the mode but I cant get a match or even create a session..Is anyone else having problems?

    Dude I have the same problem, cannot join nor create a match. Its a little dissapointing so I hope its just a matter of a lot of people not having the patch yet.

    I'm a brazilian, and very dissapointing, is just a ranked match in championship form, my hope was the mode is like a lobby list with your psn friends and make a private championship in this case I live in brazil and the connection with the others player from USA, EU, Japan is worst and after watch a replay, when i enter in network battle many times a alert with "Lost connection with Playstation Network" displayed for me. Shame on you Capcom.

    Anyway I can reset my progress on Championship only? I made it to G3-C by just loosing tourney after tourney now I am stuck with too hard a games to handle... :( :(

    Argh this is humble pie galore for me... I thought i played ok...but man maybe if i stay away from it a few weeks the pros will move on away from the lowest tiers..is there a n00b frienly way to play

    LeonX, I know what you mean...

    inviting friends to a custom tourney [no points] would have been fun as well!

    I wish the tournament mode was more like HD remix where you can follow the whole progression of the rounds even if you get smacked out. I wish loosing would not kick you back so many screens as well... if I am done seeking for fights then i will go to the network menu myself.

    I want a d@mn PSN dollar for every Ken player I have to fight in Championship... can't we just have a tourney mode "KEN USERS MASTERS KINGS MODE" just for them and let the occasional one out for regular sparring... ????

    Ya know, the only people that complain about fighting against Ken are the people that loose to him. I have tried REALLY hard to fight with other characters but I loose when I do. I just can't seem to master anyone else the way I have mastered Ken.

    I can trump a fair share of Ken players but still sometimes I admit it gets boring to play one 5 times in a row.

    Well I can understand that, but it is not just Ken. I have played Akuma, Ryu, Chun Li, Cammy, Blanka, Vega, Segat...all 5-7 times back to back. Ken is no different. I just wish people would stop complaining about Ken, it is getting old.

    This update sucks for me right now because my xbox is fuked up and it just cuts off and says unplayable disc at anytime so my disconnect percent keeps going up and it's not even my fault

    I'm having tech issues with the new update. First, everytime that I want to view a "replay" by looking at the rankings, the system tells me that the "data could not be retrieved". Then when I go back to playing online, the system tells my that I have been disconnected from the psn network! The last problem concerns the gp and Championship level. If I reach a new level (i.e. from G3-C to G3-B)and I stop playing, the system will put me back to level G3-C the next time I open the game. Anyone else having any of these problems?

    I was having the same issue with droping back in rank.

    You need to do 2 things so it doesn't happen again:
    1. Make sure you have finished the tournament (so don't shutdown game at Semi-final,Final,2nd battle)
    2. When you have received GP points never disconnect immediately after that. Give your PS3 about 5 minutes time to send this info the PS server. If you don't it will reset you to the old value next time because the info on your PS3 does not match to info on PS server.
